Scottish Highland Bagpipes
   Bagpipes are the recognized national symbol of Scotland.  Bagpipes are most typically played in a bagpipe band made up of several pipers and a full drum section.

   At The Celtic Center it is our goal to see that every student develops to their highest individual level.  Through our program students will be taken from the basics of holding the chanter and reading music through being able to confidently play a properly tuned set of bagpipes in both solo and group settings.

   In private lessons students will work on their individual technique, learn new tunes, and develop their musical expression.

   In group lessons students will be instructed in instrument care, tuning, pipe major commands, marching and playing in unison.

Beginner
   half hour private lesson on a weekly basis and a half hour group lesson on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.

Novice
   half hour private lesson on a weekly basis and a one hour group lesson on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.

   Supplies needed:
      *All items for beginner
      *McMaster method Vol.2

Intermediate-Band
   half hour private lesson and a one hour group lesson on a weekly basis

   Supplies needed:
   *All items for beginner and Novice
   *A set of Bagpipes



All supplies required for Scottish Highland Bagpipe lessons are available at The Celtic Center including sets of Bagpipes.  The Celtic Center also has rental sets of bagpipes available.



Scottish Pipe Band Drumming
   Pipe Band drumming compliments the Bagpipes by providing rhythmic accompaniment and dynamic excitement to the music.  Students will be instructed in drumming rudiments, proper technique, expression and musical flow.  Students are encouraged to participate in solo competitions as well as wroking towards membership in a competitive pipe band.

Beginner-Band Snare

Tenor/Flourishing
   Supplies needed:
      *Practice mallets
      *Performance mallets

Celtic Music Lessons
   Currently we offer instruction in the following Celtic instruments:
*Bodhran (Celtic frame drum)
*Fiddle
*Irish Uilleann Bagpipes
*Tin Whistle


   Students will learn the various types of tunes that make up the rich Celtic tradition.  Students will be taught technique, expression, interpretation and ornamentation for their particular instrument.
   Our goal is to help each student develop the ability, repertoire, and confidence to play solos as well as with other musicians.
